EHR interoperability

Electronic health record (EHR) and electronic practice management (EPM) systems are increasingly at the center of a physician’s daily activities. But these systems are not all the same.

In many cases the systems do not share information seamlessly and in other cases information cannot be shared across organizations at all. This makes it even harder for health care providers to make the right data available at the right time to the right people.

The goal of interoperability is to enable diverse EHR systems to work together so that they may be used to their full advantage — giving health care providers a more complete view of patients’ health and ultimately, improving the standard of patient care.

MMIC Health IT experts can help you get there.

Examples of interoperability

Interoperability can connect one or many organizations by integrating data (such as lab and radiology results), centralizing problem and medication lists, or collecting complete immunization or allergy records. Internally, you may want to interface with medical devices like scopes or spirometers. Or, you may want your systems to communicate with systems at other hospitals or clinics.

How we can help
